Sam Mitchell
Candidate for State House District 65
Sam Mitchell is a lifelong Oklahoman, rancher, and small business owner running to represent State House District 65. Rooted in the values of hard work, faith, and family, Sam has spent his life building a business, raising a family, and giving back to his community.
Born and raised in Oklahoma, Sam has called southwest Oklahoma home for more than 60 years. He began investing in cattle while still in high school and has dedicated his entire career to agriculture. Today, Sam and his family operate Mitchell Cattle Co. LLC, a multi-generational cattle operation focused on cow-calf, yearling, and replacement breeding programs. Over the past three decades, the Mitchell family has managed a cattle starting yard that processes thousands of head annually, adapting through changing markets while maintaining a commitment to quality and stewardship.
In addition to ranching, Sam and his wife Duane own and operate Great West Carriage Company, a horse-drawn carriage business that has become a staple of the Festival of Light in Chickasha—one of the premier holiday events in the nation. For 30 seasons, Sam and his team have helped create memorable experiences for thousands of Oklahoma families each year.
Sam’s life is defined not just by his work, but by his commitment to service. He has served for 20 years as a board member of Arena Cowboy Church and spent 9 years on the board of Farm Credit of Central Oklahoma, helping support agricultural producers across the region. He is also actively involved in community outreach, providing carriage rides for Tim Tebow’s “Night to Shine” event for individuals with special needs and participating in agricultural education efforts that reach more than 1,500 students annually.
Sam and his wife, Duane, have been married for 36 years and are proud parents of four children and grandparents to a growing family. Their children have continued the family’s tradition of service and hard work—one son serves in Army National Guard, another recently returned home after serving in the United States Marine Corps, and their family remains deeply connected to agriculture and rural Oklahoma.
A graduate of Sterling High School, Sam attended Cameron University. His life experience—working the land, running a business, and raising a family—has shaped his practical, conservative approach to leadership.
Sam Mitchell is running for State House to be a strong voice for rural Oklahoma, defend conservative values, and ensure that the next generation has the same opportunities to live, work, and thrive in our communities.
